My house

My house

I live in the corner suite on the third floor with a breaktaking view of, well, the street below.

Yesterday my landlord came by and finally finished putting screens on all my windows. Hopefully that will provide at least a small measure of protection from the Korean mosquitos that have already developed quite the taste for my foreign blood!

A day at the races

In celebration of Anna's birthday we headed out to the Seoul Racecourse and tried our luck at the track. Surprisingly, we won almost as much as we lost. Of course, most of us were betting thousands of won on each race (a few dollars) and not millions of won like the men at the window next to us. A fun day was had by all.

Adventures in Seoul Land

Seoul Land isin't exactly Disneyland, but we did have a lot of fun. It was great getting outisde the city and actually seeing blue sky and breathing clean air. Sketchy safety pracitces aside ("Oh, you don't really need that shoulder restraint on this roller coaster") we had a great day riding till we were sick.

Take me out to the ball game

Enjoying a day off for "Children's Day" (a national holiday) I joined Anna, Kathy, and James for an afternoon baseball game, the LG Twins vs. the Doosan Bears. Although my Twins looked like they were poised for victory, the Bears somehow managed to mount a miraculous comeback and won the game. More entertaining than the game on the field was the circus in the stands. Baseball in Korea comes complete with cheerleaders, live bands, and the fanatical devotion of rabid fans decked out in the regalia and colours of their team.
